Designs from a 1883 edition of Popular Scientific Recreations that showcases not just entertaining experiments but also knowledge and imagination as viewed by people almost 150 years ago. Designs were skillfuly lifted, upscaled and modified into new compositions to fit modern apparel.

First, the bonkei artist Kimura Tōsen created actual potted landscapes, which were later transformed into woodblock prints by Utagawa Yoshishige.
